In this press release, Senator Byrd expressed his views on the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court ruling. According to Byrd, this decision was the "most serious blow that has yet been struck against the rights of states in a matter vitally affecting their authority and welfare." Byrd called to those in authority to "exercise the greatest wisdom in shaping our future course."
