Augusta County, Virginia 1860 Population Census or 1860 Population Census This database provides the names, occupations, wealth, and other information about the over five hundred free African Americans who lived in Augusta County in 1860. 1860 Slaveowner Census or 1860 Slaveowner Census The slaveowner census recorded owners' names, the number of slaves they owned, and their slaves' gender and color. Free Black Registry or Free Black Registry Free African Americans in Virginia were legally required to register themselves with the county or city government. The courthouse clerk recorded birthplace, means by which they became free, and physical characteristics.

Franklin County, Pennsylvania 1860 Population Census or 1860 Population Census This database provides the names, occupations, wealth, and other information about the over seventeen hundred free African Americans who lived in Franklin County in 1860.
