The
Foundations Project: Settlement, Conflict, and Change in American History
is a three-year program of professional development funded by a Teaching
American History grant awarded to the Southwest Public Education Consortium
by the United States Department of Education. The Southwest Consortium
has partnered with the Virginia Center for Digital History at the University
of Virginia to provide on-site outreach workshops and seminars to explore
strategies for implementing digital primary resources in American history
classrooms. Regular workshops will focus on the methodology of using
digital technology while annual seminars will expose teachers to content
and research. These resources will combine to increase teacher knowledge
of American history and improve the quality of instruction thereby
increasing student achievement.
